What is Ba Zi?
Ba Zi (八字, "eight characters"), also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a Chinese system that turns the year, month, day and hour of your birth into four pillars of elemental energy. It has been used for centuries to understand temperament, tendencies and timing, including how two people are likely to get along.
Do I need to know anything about Ba Zi to read my report?
No. Every classical term comes with a plain-English explanation of what it means for you today. If you already know Ba Zi well, the classical detail is all there too.
What details will I need?
Your date, time and place of birth, and your sex at birth, which classical Ba Zi uses in its calculation. The more precise your birth time, the more accurate your hour pillar.
How are the reports made?
The chart itself comes from our own calculation engine, not a chatbot. It uses true solar time and always gives the same result for the same birth details. Our interpretations follow classical Ba Zi method, written for a modern audience, and we're working with experienced practitioners to review them.
How much do they cost?
The chart summary is free. The full Personal Ba Zi Report is A$19 and the Compatibility Analysis is A$29, both one-time purchases.
Can I get a report for someone else?
Your full report is tied to your own profile. For someone else, the Compatibility Analysis lets you enter a partner's birth details, and from 30 November you'll be able to gift a report so they can have their own.
Is this fortune-telling?
We don't make predictions or promises. A report is a structured lens on temperament and compatibility, a starting point for reflection and conversation rather than a verdict.
The dating community
When does the dating side launch?
We're launching in Sydney first. Matching switches on once our Sydney community is large enough to give everyone genuinely good introductions, then we'll open in Melbourne and further afield. Founding Users hear first.
How does matching work?
Each match score combines two things in equal measure: how your Ba Zi charts interact, and how closely your life values align across family, career, health, wealth and lifestyle.
How is the 50:50 ratio kept?
Membership is strictly capped so men and women stay evenly balanced. If one side is full, new members join a waiting list until the other side catches up.
Do I have to believe in Ba Zi to join?
Not at all. Many members will simply value the structure it brings, and your values carry equal weight in every match.
Who is HaiGui for?
We've designed HaiGui around Chinese cultural values and with Asian-Australian daters in mind, but anyone who values what it's built on is welcome.
What will it cost?
The dating community will run on a subscription. Pricing isn't set yet; Founding Users will be the first to know, and will help shape it.
What's a Founding User?
One of the first people on our waitlist. Founding Users get early access, first word on reports and launch dates, and a real say in how the dating experience is designed.
